Beautiful game?
Indian crowds shout overtly racist chants at an Aussie player... an Indian batsman refuses to walk when given out in the first Test... an Indian player calls an Australian player with dark skin a monkey... But no... the Aussies are the bad guys for playing to the umpire (as every other team does in every game)... shame on them. It's funny that the Indian manager says "Monkey is not a racist term in our country... ummmmm.... but Singh didn't use the word monkey anyway...." He either said it or he didn't. I have no doubt he said it because otherwse there there wouldn't be all this justification and excuse making from the Indians about the word used. They'd just be stating that he didn't say it. Same old same old from the sub-continent...
Former Miss Virginia: Everyone has 'body drama'
It's hard to believe that a former Miss Virginia might have had body image problems, but Martinsville native Nancy Redd, Miss Virginia of 2003, did when she was a teenager. It was out of those insecurities that she has just published a book for adolescent girls titled "BODY DRAMA" with frank answers to embarrassing questions and real, often explicit, pictures of women's bodies and problems with their bodies. "My own body gave me the idea for the book," Redd said last week. "In middle and high school, I'd often sneak into the health section of the bookstore or library and frantically flip through the dozens of puberty and body books on the shelves, ignoring the paragraphs of clinical text, searching urgently for photographic evidence that I was not a weird girl - proof by comparison, if you will.
BREAKING NEWS: BOB KNIGHT RESIGNS EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
NewsChannel 11 has just learned that Texas Tech Basketball Coach Bob Knight has resigned effective immediately. We're told Assistant Coach Pat Knight will take over. The announcement comes just two days before Tech's next basketball game which is Wednesday against Baylor in Waco. It also comes less than three weeks after Knight's record 900th win. Sources tell NewsChannnel 11 that Coach Knight told Athletic Director Gerald Myers that he was ready to quit and tired of coaching. NewsChannel 11 is also told that Knight told his team Monday morning about his plans to step down. ESPN is quoting Knight as saying ..."I've never really known when I was going to step down from this job, As I thought about it, my first thought was at the end of this season"...the best thing for the long run for this team would be for Pat and his staff to coach these remaining 10 games..." Taser Fires Back at U.N. Anti-Torture Committee: Analysis
The guy in the "Don't Tase me Bro" video is not. Why? There were 4 officers, and one even had a good starting point for a come along out of the escort position that would have ended the situation without taser use. What happened? The poorly trained officers reached for a taser. Every officer in our class had nothing good to say about that incident. Officers need to become better in using tools that lower on the continuum of force, including come alongs and joint locks. Unfortunately, that takes work, and many officers are lazy...just like the rest of society. The UN is a pile of crap. 53. RE: Taser Fires Back at U.N. NHL pioneer O'Ree works for diversity
It's interesting that the NHL All-Star Game happened to be in Atlanta this year, 50 years after Willie O'Ree broke the color barrier in the NHL. This city, which hosted a luncheon to honor O'Ree on Friday, is also where he got his first taste of the South during segregation. .
Drug Treatment
Corticosteroids (commonly called steroids) are mainstay treatments for acute relapses patients with relapse-remitting MS. High-dose methylprednisolone given intravenously (IVMP) is typically administered for major relapse, often followed by oral prednisone for a few days. Steroids reduce inflammation in the central nervous system and may help suppress the immune system's attack on myelin and even improve electrical conduction. Steroids, in general, do not improve the long-term course of the disease and can lose effectiveness if overused. They are not generally used for maintenance therapy. Some research, however, is reporting benefits from the use of pulsed administration of intravenous methylprednisolone. Such an approach typically administers the steroid daily for 5 days every 4 months for 3 years, then every 6 months for 2 years.
Blackface-wearing Party Goers Racist?
Let me tell you a story about a party where one or more of the attendees were dressed in blackface as part of their costume. The students were having a great time. Drinks were flowing, music playing, stories were being shared. Each costume brought more and more laughter. Some were dressed as ball players, one as Madonna, others as astronauts and even a few religious figures could be seen. Then it happened. In walks a kid wearing blackface. The party guests, made up of different races, quickly begin to whisper and stare at the new guest as he walks over to get a drink. Not that it's important, but the rest of the costume is a dark 3-piece suit, sunglasses and a pendant around his neck. He's carrying a briefcase. There may have been a top hat too but I can't remember.
